  1. Great Rocket

Posted by James Castillo on 21st Apr 2020

Purchased the kit as a paint project. It went together well with no modifications other than a kevlar tether and motor retainer. A quick and easy build for a sturdy L1 rocket. Good looking and a great value. I have great expectations as to its flight capabilities!

  2. Good value

I purchased this kit after I built the Big Fizz. This kit, like The Big Fizz kit is great on smaller high power motors with the chute release. Because of its design, it is a great sturdy rocket for your L1 or a great smaller high power rocket to launch on smaller fields. This kit has great parts and is high quality. The one I ordered did come with a bad air-frame. I called Mad Cow and they replaced it with a new one. Their customer service is GREAT, the good service goes a long way! I would say that this is a great kit and a good value...plus they have great customer service.

History

The LITTLE JOHN was a free flight artillery rocket designed to deliver the explosive power of heavy artillery. It could carry either nuclear or conventional warheads. Designed primarily for use in airborne assault operations, the highly mobile LITTLE JOHN rocket system complemented the heavier, self-propelled HONEST JOHN systems. The LITTLE JOHN reached the field in November 1961 and remained in the Army inventory until August 1969.
